WARRIORS CUP VI–RESULTS

What a great show! Thanks to the folks at Weapons 9 for putting together such a well organized event. Set in the historic New Brunswick Boxing Gym the event was marked by good, exciting matches and an enthusiastic, muay thai-savvy crowd. Big thanks to all of our students who made the trip out to support our fighters. And Kathryn, Gaius and Eddie didn't disappoint! Leading off the Five Points contingent, Kathryn Grooms set the tone with a non-stop, toe-to-toe contest against the more experienced Heather Wagner of Champions Fitness. Refusing to back down, Kathryn put together combination after combination while moving forward and wearing her younger opponent down. A gutsy performance culminating in a win by decision for Kathryn.
Next up was Gaius Ebratt against the undefeated Stephen Regman of TSMMA Fight Team. A very patient and focused Gaius used textbook defense to neutralize Regman's boxing attakcs, while imposing his will with his front kick, landing his low kick almost at will and dominating in the clinch. A very impressive performance in his return to the ring ending in a unanimous decision for Gaius.
In the main event of the evening, Eddie Martinez stepped in against Oscar Arizmendi of Wilkies Martial Arts. A very experienced fighter from South America and an awkward southpaw, Arizmendi has confounded some opponents. Eddie simply dominated from the opening bell. A textbook display of muay thai technique, Eddie worked inside and out, up and down, stopping his opponent via TKO in round two.
Thanks to our fighters for training so hard and representing the school so well. And thanks to all the members of the Five Points family who supported and assisted with their training, support and positive thoughts!
