Tamaz v Gustavo Navarrette. The first bout of the evening featured two young fighters ready to give it everything they had. Both fighters threw leather non-stop, trading power shots from one corner of the ring to the other. A great bout to start the event, a real crowd pleaser, and a preview of big things to come from both fighters. Navarrette was stronger down the stretch (perhaps it's time for Tamaz to stop smoking?) garnering the judges' favor. NAVARRETTE BY UNANIMOUS DECISION.

Rima v Tippy Connell. The pro debut of two very experienced amateur fighters was a showcase for Rima's aggressive clinching style. Minimizing the taller Connell's reach with a tight guard and throwing hard shots to come in, Rima dominated the early rounds in the clinch. As that strategy took effect and Connell tired, Rima added in hard low kick and punch counters from the outside. Controlling the bout from opening to final bell in very impressive shut-out of a highly-regarded opponent, all three judges awarded her all rounds. RIMA BY UNANIMOUS DECISION.

A big thank you to the very large contingent of Five Points students who came out to cheer on Tamaz and Coach Rima!
